City High was thrilled to take a group of seven students to the Woodland Hills Student Summit on Friday, March 13, 2026. Though the Student Summit has been around since 2019, this is the first time that City High was able to attend.

The Student Summit started out as an opportunity for Woodland Hills students to come to terms with a series of heartbreaking events that happened in their community, but has since expanded to provide high school students across the greater Pittsburgh region the opportunity to gather with their peers and talk about the issues that matter to them.

Centering student voice is one of the key components of the event, as it is almost entirely run by student leaders. While adults provide help with logistics and keeping things on schedule, student leaders decide on everything from the topics that will be discussed at each Summit to the content in the presentations and group discussions.

This year's Student Summit focused on topics like AI, mental health, criminal justice, student atheletics, and environmental sciences.

“It’s nice listening to other people’s perspective, their ideas and how they think about it,” City High sophomore Lilyan Ezeddin shared in an interview with the TribLive. “I’m very glad we had a discussion on this.”
