Math/Science Teaching Associate

City Charter High School is a public, 9-12, urban charter school looking to hire a teaching associate to work in collaboration with the 11th grade Math and Science Teachers. The teaching associate position involves assisting students of multiple ability levels within the Math and Science classrooms.

City Charter High School, an urban public charter school located in downtown Pittsburgh, is seeking a full-time Special Education Teacher for the current 9th grade. Position involves coordinating support and assisting students with disabilities within a fully inclusive environment across all academic areas and collaborating with content areas to instruct, modify and adapt work for students. Position also includes writing all special education paperwork including IEPs, PBSPs, transition plans and progress monitoring reports. All applicants must have experience in writing compliant paperwork that meets PA state standards. Special education teaching certification required. The position includes a full medical, dental and vision benefit package and a salary range beginning at $48,000 depending on experience. City Charter High School is looking to hire a part-time, building substitute to join our school community for the 2021-22 school year. The position will include working Tuesday through Friday on a weekly basis from 7:45 to 3:45 at a rate of $175.00 per day. The candidate must be flexible and comfortable in working with various content areas and high school aged students.

Certification Requirements:
If you hold a Pennsylvania public educator certificate or a professional-level out of state educator certificate, you may be eligible to become a day-to-day substitute.

Requirements for day-to-day substitutes:

  • Valid Pennsylvania educator certificate or out of state certificate
  • Bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalency) if not certified
  • Background clearances
  • U.S. citizen or permanent resident alien status (green card)


If you do not hold the proper certification but have a bachelor’s degree, City High will apply for an emergency permit for a substitute position.

City Charter High School is seeking to hire a full-time Activities Manager.  The Activities Manager position is primarily responsible for all aspects of student activities which includes planning, marketing, launching, facilitation and evaluation. This person acts as liaison between students, administrative staff, faculty, vendors and community members to facilitate the success of all student programs and activities.  City Charter High School is a public school with an enrollment of 600+ students in grades nine through twelve. Yearly activities/events include three dances, four field trips in the fall, three field trips in the spring/summer, and multiple activities/ programs throughout the school year.

The position requires excellent organizational, motivational, interpersonal and communication (written, verbal and electronic) skills; the ability to plan and manage activities effectively and efficiently; and current knowledge of computer programs and applications. Responsibilities also include contracting with vendors, maintaining records of activity costs and managing student activity accounts. Candidates must be energetic, approachable, organized, flexible and creative. 

The successful candidate must possess a bachelor’s degree in any business or related field, 3 - 5 years experience dealing with the public, with a minimum of 2 years project management experience.  Equivalent relevant work experience will be considered.
