City Charter High School, a public 9-12 charter school, located in downtown Pittsburgh is looking to hire a full-time Technology Manager.  The Technology Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing all technology-related systems, policies, and platforms for approximately 90 staff members and 550+ students, supporting staff members with technical issues, and ensuring data integrity across a number of school information systems.

City Charter High School, an urban high school located in downtown Pittsburgh, is looking for a Social Worker/School Counselor to join our school community.

POSITION OVERVIEW: 

The position of School Social Worker is integral to City High’s core value that all students can learn and achieve at a proficient level when given a safe, secure and nurturing environment. Consequently, City High has two full time Social Workers, looking to hire a third, whose mission is to promote, counsel and support lifelong wellness for all students. By bringing counseling and nursing services into the school on a full time basis, City High is dedicated to the emotional, mental and physical health of its students. The role of the City High School Social Worker is to engage with students who are facing challenges in their lives. The goal is to develop individualized strategies that promote wellness and academic achievement. The School Social Worker also provides staff with strategies and support as they work with students. 

 

QUALIFICATIONS: 

To be considered for the position, the candidate must have: 

  • A minimum of a Masters degree in social work or a counselor-related program; 
  • A minimum of 10 years experience in provision of human services to teens and families; 
  • A background in working with diverse populations; 
  • Expertise regarding the impact of trauma and the skills to support at risk students;    
  • Specific knowledge of community resources relating to the needs of teen youth and their families;  
  • The ability to excel at collaborating with school staff and the leadership team; 
  • Experience with running teen groups; 
  • Knowledge and application of successful counseling strategies with respect to substance abuse is a plus; and 
  • Pennsylvania Home and School Visitor Certificate. 
 

COMPENSATION:

  • Provide support for students with personal, emotional and mental health needs.

Position involves coordinating support and assisting students with disabilities within a fully inclusive environment across all academic areas and collaborating with content areas to instruct, modify and adapt work for students. Cultural Literacy Teaching Associate

City Charter High School is looking to hire a teaching associate to work in collaboration with the 9th grade English and History teachers within the Cultural Literacy classroom. The teaching associate position involves assisting students of multiple ability levels within the Cultural Literacy (English and History) classroom,  conducting reading and discussion groups and co-teaching History and/or English content.

City Charter High School is looking to hire a part-time, daily substitute to join our school community for the 2021-22 school year. The position will include working Tuesday through Friday on a weekly basis from 7:45 to 3:45 at a rate of $175.00 per day. The candidate must be flexible and comfortable in working with various content areas and high school aged students.

Certification Requirements:
If you hold a Pennsylvania public educator certificate or a professional-level out of state educator certificate, you may be eligible to become a day-to-day substitute.

Requirements for day-to-day substitutes:

  • Valid Pennsylvania educator certificate or out of state certificate
  • Bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalency) if not certified

City Charter High School is  looking to hire a full time support staff to provide one-on-one academic and life skills support for an 11th grade student. The one-on-one position works alongside general education and special education teachers within a fully inclusive environment. The student uses a walker to travel throughout the school, is included in all general education classes and uses assistive technology such as text to speech software, speech to text software, a Smart Pen.

Support staff is required to: Maintain confidentiality in all matters pertaining to the student outside of the education stakeholders, escort, observe, and assist the student to/from all necessary locations in the school building and on field trips and/or out of building instruction, assist the student with a variety of personal care activities such as, but not limited to: toileting and mobility, assist the student with participation in class and other school activities in accordance with the IEP, accept directives/instructions from the Special Education/General Education Teachers, Related Service Providers, and Administration.
