Current Openings
The successful candidate must have a college degree and 3 – 5 years’ work experience in an educational, business, or non-profit organization. Experience in secondary K-12 education preferred. A strong track record of event planning and/or project management is essential. Prior experience working with the public and community relations experience desired.

City Charter High School, an urban public charter school located in downtown Pittsburgh, is seeking a full-time English Teacher. The English position requires the teacher to co-teach and loop with the History and Learning Support Teachers and Teaching Associate. The English Teacher will teach the grade level curriculum as determined by the Cultural Literacy Content Team with the ability to create and design daily lesson plans with the History Teacher. Cultural Literacy classes include students of all ability levels and the position does require teaching an honors course. City Charter High School is looking to hire a part-time, building substitute to join our school community for the 2021-22 school year. The position will include working Tuesday through Friday on a weekly basis from 7:45 to 3:45 at a rate of $175.00 per day. The candidate must be flexible and comfortable in working with various content areas and high school aged students.
Certification Requirements:
If you hold a Pennsylvania public educator certificate or a professional-level out of state educator certificate, you may be eligible to become a day-to-day substitute.
Requirements for day-to-day substitutes:
- Valid Pennsylvania educator certificate or out of state certificate
- Bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalency) if not certified
- Background clearances
- U.S. citizen or permanent resident alien status (green card)
If you do not hold the proper certification but have a bachelor’s degree, City High will apply for an emergency permit for a substitute position.

With the aim of assuring a safe and secure school, whereby all school community stakeholders feel and contribute to the safety of the school, the School Safety Officer plays a pivotal role in this goal. A highlight of responsibilities includes: Work collaboratively as a part of a School Safety team and with school administration. Patrol and secure school floors and be present at end of day dismissal outside. Monitor lunchroom during student lunch periods. Respond to emergencies. Maintain order during conflicts and Incidents. Work with students on peaceful resolution of conflicts.
