Math Teacher
City Charter High School, a public 9-12 charter school, located in downtown Pittsburgh is looking to hire a full-time Math teacher. The position requires implementation of the interactive mathematics curriculum within a collaborative work environment involving a learning support teacher and/or teaching associate.   Curriculum areas include algebra, geometry, trigonometry and pre-calculus and are integrated in grades 9-12. Candidates must be able to work with students of different ability levels within the same classroom and be able to build relationships with students. The position requires the teacher to co-plan with other members of the math department and learning support teachers. 

The position includes a salary starting at $50,500, and includes a full medical, dental and vision benefits package, 10 days of paid time off, 401k retirement plan, and an educational stipend for those interested in continuing education. Staff at City High also have the benefit of having having most Mondays off (3-day weekend) leaving one working Monday per month for professional development, co-planning and parent-teacher conferences.

City Charter High School, a public 9-12 charter school, located in downtown Pittsburgh is looking to hire a full-time School Safety Officer. 

To ensure a safe and secure school, whereby all school community stakeholders feel safe and contribute to the safety of the school, the School Safety Officer plays a pivotal role in this goal. A highlight of responsibilities includes:

  • Working collaboratively as a part of a School Safety team and with school administration.
  • Patrol and secure school floors and be present at end-of-day dismissal outside.
  • Monitor the lunchroom during student lunch periods.
  • Respond to emergencies.
  • Maintain order during conflicts and incidents.
  • Work with students on peaceful resolution of conflicts.
QUALIFICATIONS: A high school diploma or its equivalent and 3-5 years of experience in the Security field or a similar role. Outstanding observation and reporting skills.  Must have good communication and public relation skills.  Trust worthy with the ability to keep any information or incident involving the school or a student confidential.  Prior Restorative Practices/Justice training a plus. CPR / First Aide / AED Certification and SRO Basic Certification are required in the role. 

School Safety Officer Full Job Description

The position includes a salary range of $33,000 to $39,000 plus a generous benefits package including health insurance, paid time off, an attendance monetary incentive, a 401k retirement program (with matching contributions) and a 4-day school schedule of three Mondays off of school a month, leaving the other working Monday available for professional development and co-planning.

City Charter High School is looking to hire a permanent building substitute to join our school community. The position will include working Tuesday through Friday on a weekly basis from 7:45 to 3:45 at a rate of $175.00 per day. The candidate must be flexible and comfortable in working with various content areas and high school-aged students.

Certification Requirements:
If you hold a Pennsylvania public educator certificate or a professional-level out-of-state educator certificate, you may be eligible to become a day-to-day substitute.

Requirements for day-to-day substitutes:

  • Valid Pennsylvania educator certificate or out-of-state certificate
  • Bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalency) if not certified
  • Background clearances
  • U.S. citizen or permanent resident alien status (green card)


If you do not hold the proper certification but have a bachelor’s degree, City High will apply for an emergency permit for a substitute position.
