Math Teacher - Updated 8/15 - 12th Grade
City Charter High School, a public 9-12 charter school, located in downtown Pittsburgh is looking to hire a full-time Math teacher. The position requires implementation of the interactive mathematics curriculum within a collaborative work environment involving a learning support teacher and/or teaching associate. Curriculum areas include algebra, geometry and pre-calculus. Candidates must be able to work with students of different ability levels within the same classroom and be able to build relationships with students.

Charter High School, an urban public charter school located in downtown Pittsburgh, is seeking a full-time Technology Teacher. The position requires teaching technology applications including the Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Suite, and various electives including Programming and Robotics. Ideal candidates must be certified in Business, Computer and Information Technology and be willing and able to design new technology courses that are relevant in today’s world. City High loops with students by grade level. The position begins teaching in 11th grade for the 23-24 school year and then will loop down to the 9th grade for the 24-25 school year. The position requires the Technology Teacher to work closely with the Financial Literacy Teacher, especially in the 9th and 10th grades.

City Charter High School, a public 9-12 charter school, located in downtown Pittsburgh is looking to hire a full-time Information Literacy Teacher. Information Literacy teachers instruct 9th and 10th-grade students in research and information literacy skills and how to apply them to a variety of content-based and independent research projects. In 11th and 12th grades, teachers facilitate the graduation projects of a grade-level cohort of students and work with classroom teachers on infusing research skills throughout the curriculum. The open position is within the 11th grade and includes being a member of a collaborative and looping teaching team and also participates in advising students within a grade level. Applicants should have a superior academic resume, strong pedagogical and technological skills, an interest in working with urban youth and a belief that all students can achieve.
Preference for teachers who are library-science certified. City Charter High School is looking to hire a part-time, building substitute to join our school community for the remainder of the 2022-23 school year and for the 23-24 school year. The position will include working Tuesday through Friday on a weekly basis from 7:45 to 3:45 at a rate of $175.00 per day. The candidate must be flexible and comfortable in working with various content areas and high school-aged students.
Certification Requirements:
If you hold a Pennsylvania public educator certificate or a professional-level out-of-state educator certificate, you may be eligible to become a day-to-day substitute.
Requirements for day-to-day substitutes:
- Valid Pennsylvania educator certificate or out-of-state certificate
- Bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalency) if not certified
- Background clearances
- U.S. citizen or permanent resident alien status (green card)
If you do not hold the proper certification but have a bachelor’s degree, City High will apply for an emergency permit for a substitute position.

The School Safety Manager leads the school in developing and implementing procedures and a comprehensive school safety program that assures the safety and security of City Charter High School. A highlight of responsibilities includes:
- Model school safety practices.
- Supervise 1-2 school safety officers.
- Patrol and secure school floors and be present at end of day dismissal outside.
- Advise and work closely with the Admin team.
- Coordinate necessary local and state school safety reports.
- Monitor lunchroom during student lunch periods.
- Respond to emergencies.
- Maintain order during conflicts and Incidents.
- Work with students on peaceful resolution of conflicts.
Skills and Qualifications
A high school diploma or its equivalent and 3-5 years of experience in the Security field or a similar role. Strong leadership skills and ability to proactively and responsively address issues that maintain a safe environment. Outstanding observation and reporting skills. Must have good communication and public relation skills. Trustworthy with the ability to keep any information or incident involving the school or a student confidential. Prior Restorative Practices/Justice training a plus. CPR / First Aide / AED Certification and SRO Basic Certification are required in the role.
