City Charter High School is thrilled to announce the winners of the Nick Durkin Scholarship Fund for 2026. 

12th grade students Jay Siwa and Xhileze Hill have been awarded full scholarships for the Costa Rica service learning trip! 11th grade student Matthew Stevenson also received a partial scholarship. 

The Nick Durkin Scholarship Fund awards scholarships to City High students participating in the school's annual Costa Rica trip. Nick participated in this trip in 2012 when he was a senior at City High. It was one of the most positive and affirming experiences he ever had. Nick passed away in December of 2017. Although the circumstances around his death are incredibly sad, this fund is a way to share Nick's spirit with those who knew him and those who never had the chance to meet him.

These awards recognize the dedication and enthusiasm for service and global learning by the scholarship winners. We are so thankful to the Nick Durkin family for their generous and ongoing support in making these opportunities possible for our students.
