True Partners in Our Community’s Future

At City Charter High School, teachers engage and inspire students to break out of their comfort zone and explore the world of possibilities. The mandatory internship program gives students experience in the workplace, but how they get there relies in large part to support from the business community.

Internship Mentors

There is life after high school. Before graduating, every City Charter High School student will have completed a work experience internship from a partnered community business that is vested in our City’s future and will ultimately rely on its youth.

We work with various businesses, professionals and organizations in the community to offer students real-world experiences to explore a potential career. By developing partnerships with the Pittsburgh business community, we can expose our students to a variety of industries.

College Partners

Wouldn’t it be great if students could get a taste of college before committing to 2 years or 4 years? Thanks to a partnership with CCAC and Point Park University, City Charter High School can offer students For-credit College Class elective opportunities so they can earn college credits while at City High. What’s more, this program allows students to challenge themselves with deeper exploration into a subject matter that really interests them.

Service Learning Partners

City Charter High School students can complete a Service Learning course, participating in activities that make a difference in their community. We are grateful to these community organization partners for giving our students this unique learning opportunity:

  • Neighborhood Centers
  • Senior Centers
  • Libraries
  • Food Kitchens
  • Charities and More

Our award-winning international student service program combines international community outreach with cultural and environmental science learning experiences. The culturally immersed service learning broadens students’ horizons, builds bonds, while encouraging teamwork and social responsibility.

City High’s international and environmental outdoor programs are supported by generous multi-year grants from the Richard King Mellon Foundation.

Industry Speakers

High school is a time for learning about oneself. At City Charter High School, we help students find out what they’re good at, what interests them and then explore what they might like to do in life.

Post High School Planning is a major focus for City High students. To help them on their paths of discovery, we rely on:

  • College and Career Field Tours
  • Industry Speaker Presentations based on Students’ Career Interests
  • Peer-sharing Workshops
  • Alumni Presentations in Various Fields

Alumni Support

The greatest evidence of City High's success is found in the stories of its alumni, who have excelled in a variety of workplaces, and academic paths, and as integral parts of the community.  We are proud to have them as a core component of the City High legacy.
