Favorite spot in Pittsburgh?

My favorite spots in Pittsburgh are between Phipps Conservatory and the Mount Washington Overlook. I love flowers and plants and I love the view from both locations.

How long have you worked at City High?

I started in June of 2023 so I am coming up on 3 years.

Share more with us about what your day-to-day role looks like!

My day to day roles involve preparing students for the world of work. This entails managing a cohort of students who are already out on internships, planning for the next cohort that will be going out on internship, and over all community engagement. I work to make sure that students are successfully completing their internships by making sure they are meeting their required number of hours and keeping good attendance. I help students who are headed into their internship with polishing up their resumes and finding internship placements. Through my role, I interact with a lot of different community members so a big part of being an Internship Manager is continuing to maintain those relationships.

What initially drew you to City High?

I graduated from City High and I owe a lot of my success to the people who poured into me as a student. Therefore, I want and continue to strive to be an adult and educator that pours into my students. Also, my research and work completed through my dissertation directly aligns with my role and
responsibilities of my position.

What do you love most about working at City High?

Hands down my connection with the students! Directly after that is the beautiful relationship I have built with my partner (Mrs. Drummond) She is an amazing partner and role model.

Best advice for City High students?

The best advice I would give to a student is to stay focused! Although the structure and rules of City High may be a little confusing or stressful now it will all make sense and be worth it in the end.
