Petty Officer 1st Class, Autumn Caluya
City High is proud to congratulate Petty Officer 1st Class Autumn Caluya (Class of 2015), who was recently named USS Gettysburg's Sailor of the Year. Caluya was also chosen as Carrier Strike Group (CSG) Eight’s Sailor Shout Out.
"As USS Gettysburg’s 2025 Sailor of the Year, Caluya led a team of 25 sailors and was responsible for ensuring those sailors were properly trained, qualified and supported to safely operate and maintain the ship’s combat systems," the U.S. Navy Office of Community Outreach shared about this great honor.
Since graduating from City High, Caluya has earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Maryland and served in the Navy for 10 years as an interior communications electrician.
“Truth be told, I am not much for receiving recognition or attention,” Caluya shared about her experience. “I just try to do my job to the best of my abilities and look after my fellow sailors on the deckplates.”
