Senior Spotlight: City High Celebrates 3 Students Going Abroad for Post-Secondary Education

With the Class of 2025 counting down the days until graduation, City High would like to highlight three of our seniors who are going to be traveling overseas for their post-secondary studies. These three friends have decided to broaden their horizons by seeking to continue their education outside of the United States.

Senior Spotlight: N'ziyableu "Bleu" Boddy

Bleu will be attending Temple University of Japan to study art, where she hopes to hone her craft so that she can become a residential illustrato. She is specifically interested in working with journalists.

Bleu had no clue where she wanted to go to school until attending the College National Art Fair during her junior year, where she was introduced to a representative of Temple University of Japan—an extension of Temple University, located in Philadelphia. What interested Bleu the most about Temple University of Japan was the idea of being able to move to a new place and surround herself with other people and different cultures than her own.

When exploring what the school had to offer, she appreciated that it was culturally diverse. “For artists, it’s really important to have exposure to different cultures so that you can learn and grow.” She also was pleased with the professors and their credentials, which are especially important for young artists who are attending art school to grow their skills and make valuable connections.

Bleu is most excited to become fluent in Japanese, and most specifically, being able to hold a whole conversation in another language.

Senior Spotlight: Jada Taylor

Jada will be attending University of Glasgow to study Digital Media & Information Studies and Business & Management. She hopes to one day work in public relations and marketing.

When looking at schools, Jada was intrigued by University of Glasgow’s beautiful campus and inclusive environment, which pushed her to apply. “I'm very excited to be in a new environment as well as starting my college career and making the first step to better my future,” she said.

Ultimately, Jada decided to accept the offer to attend because she wanted to be independent, explore new cultures, and have the chance to travel.

Senior Spotlight: Layla Henson

Layla will be attending the University of Glasgow in the fall, where she plans to study business and sustainability. She hopes to one day help companies transition in more sustainable ways, and maybe even own her own business.

Though Layla applied to many schools here in the United States, her mom encouraged her to look into international schools, and she found that she liked the idea of going to school in Scotland because of their sustainability initiatives. When she learned that her classmate and friend, Jada, was also accepted at University of Glasgow and planning to attend, it cemented her decision to attend as well.

Layla says that she grew up traveling a lot and has been to Scotland before, stating, “I could easily picture myself living, thriving, and learning there!” She is most excited to meet new people, travel, work, and “sponge up the culture”.

Congratulations seniors and best of luck!
