City High's Chief Academic Officer Featured on 3WS Radio Show
We’re excited to share that Angela Welch, our Chief Academic Officer at City High, was a guest on the February 27th episode of 3WS Radio's Pittsburgh Sunday Morning show! During the interview, Ms. Welch discussed our school's innovative educational model and how City High continues to stand out in shaping the future of education.
Ms. Welch spoke about the unique aspects of our approach to learning, such as the looping system, which keeps students with the same set of teachers throughout their four years of high school for a more personalized learning experience. She also emphasized how we foster an environment where students thrive academically and personally.
Specifically, she shared about the importance of City High tying real world applications into our curriculum by prioritizing courses on financial litearcy and post-secondary career planning.
As a part of preparing students for career-readiness, Ms. Welch highlighted the importance of City High's internship program. "Real world experience, it's so invaluable...I think it's really good for kids to get out of the building because it's good for them to have mentors in other places. And then also they find out some things about the jobs that they thoguht were really great or not so great, or they find out like, 'Hey, I was really good at this skill. I didn't know I was good at this until someone asked me to do this, and now I really want to do this for a living.'"
