City High Receives Commendation for Its Cafeteria Program

City High’s School Food Services Department received a commendation during its recent 5-Year Review of our Child Nutrition Program by the PA Department of Education.

The commendation highlights our use of fresh ingredients in operations and the commendable practice of having the majority of our menu based on scratch cooking.

This recognition is a testament to our collective dedication to providing students with nutritious meals, emphasizing quality, and promoting a healthy dining experience. The acknowledgment extends to our kitchen staff and nutrition experts who work diligently to ensure that each meal aligns with the highest culinary standards: Chef Richard Dyer, Sous Chef Jake Shultz, Cafeteria Manager Denise Provident and Cafeteria Assitant Mona Wrencher-Strong.

Our commitment to maintaining a menu predominantly rooted in scratch cooking reflects our broader mission of fostering a culture of health and wellness within the school community. We firmly believe that a well-nourished mind is essential for academic success and personal development.
This commendation inspires us to continue advancing the benchmarks of our Child Nutrition Program. Our commitment remains unwavering in creating an environment where nutrition is prioritized, offering students the sustenance they need to excel academically and thrive holistically.

We extend our gratitude to the entire City High community—students, parents, faculty, and staff—for their continued support and shared enthusiasm for our pursuit of excellence, including in the realm of nutrition.
