WELCOME TO TECHNOLOGY!

As many of you know, I love technology and we are at a very interesting time with the upcomming next-gen video game systems, Quad Core processors, and other neat and bizzare things. I'll be posting opinions and links to things I find interesting up here. Also if you have a burning Technology problem (and not City High Laptop Related :-) and you email me, I'll post answers to your problems! (Apple, Windows or Linux, plus hardware)

You can email me @ cityhightechnews@gmail.com with your questions or article suggestions!

So I've been gone for awhile and yes I'm sorry. But today I'm writing for the fact of the new Nintendo Revolution (opps Sorry I mean 'Wii')

Last year (2005) Nintendo announced the Revolution saying that it would have a motion senstive controler, backwards compability with every single Nintendo game ever made and a cheap price tag.

This year at E3, Nintendo gave us the Wii. Changed from its code name of Revolution. Its called Wii because in every country, it is easy to say and is not specific to any one country (Note Wii is prounced like "We"). They showed a tech demo, a Tennis game and it proved Nintendo was doing something.

September, Nintendo announced that the Wii would include a game and have a price tag of $250 -- Half as much as a PlayStation 3 and $50 cheaper than the cheaper form of the 360.

Yesterday (11/19/06) I pick up my Wii and had to work. The box that it comes in makes the system look huge, but it is as promised "No Bigger Than 3 Standard DVD Movie Boxes". Set up was very easy - only Three cables all color coded. The Controler (Dubbed the Wiimote) is very small and easily fits in your hand. Set up of the console can be done without cracking open the Manual, but the Quick Start gudie was needed.

Using the Wiimote is easy, but does take some time to get use to. It is a little senstive and large movements are not needed. Madden for the Wii you need to "Pass" the ball and then "Kick" the ball using a similar motion in real life. In the game Red Steel, you get a sword and you need to defend yourself as such - it really is a good system.

The Virtural Console - the system of downloading games of Nintendo's past is great. You can use a GameCube Controller, or a $20 dollar attachemnt to the Wiimote that acts as a controler. The games are cheap ($5-$10) and download fast. One plus is, if your system dies, you call Nindtendo and they allow you to re-download all your games.

The only thing that Nintendo promised and did not deliever was "Allowing Access to all gamers, no matter what abilities." I found that 99% of the games need an attachment called the "Nunchuck" that automaticly requires 2 hands. You do need movement of your arms to play the Wii. I find this to be odd because it breaks Nintendo's promise. At least with the PS3 and the 360 (xBox 360) you can only have one hand and still play with some challenge.

My Wii is currently broken and their customer service is really fast, friendly and helpful. They sent overnight a new system which arrived at my house at 8:30AM today (11/20) after I called at 11PM at night. That is the fastest and best Customer Service in the world.

I'll have more a review later after school and after I get my new system up and running.
