Admissions

City Charter High School is a public charter high school. As such, City High is free and open to the public.  The school advertises its enrollment dates to the community through mailing of flyers to 7th and 8th graders in Allegheny County and through it's website.  Tours of the school are offered on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 8:30am. Please call 412-690-2489 for an appointment if you'd like to visit.  We recommend that parents and students visit the school, observe classes and meet with staff prior to enrollment.

Enrollment begins on October 1st for siblings of students currently at the school.  To enroll at City Charter High School parents/guardians must provide the school with a completed application, two documents that prove residency and a birth certificate.  Open enrollment for Pittsburgh students begins on November 1st.  If more than 156 students apply, a lottery will be conducted on December 1st. Otherwise all Pittsburgh applicants are accepted.  On December 1st enrollment is open to any student in the state of Pennsylvania on a first come, first served basis. Once the enrollment reaches 156 students, a waiting list is created and kept up to date on the website.

If students drop off of the roster for the up coming year, students on the waiting list will be contacted in the order they applied.
